Stand-Up Comedy Specials

Recording stand-up specials is probably my favourite side of this business. I love being able to do a comedian’s show justice by filming it in the way it deserves.

  • Netflix have a published list of cameras that their technologists have evaluated and approved for their streaming platform. The cameras I own are on this list. It’s important to clarify that Netlfix do also purchase projects from cameras not on this list. It’s a list for projects produced by Netflix. But it’s good for you to know you the level of quality we can offer. Find information about what cameras I own and use in the ‘kit’ section of this website.

  • My filmmaking journey began when I started making comedy short films in the mid 2010’s. This led to me making comedy shorts with some of Ireland’s most talented sketch comedians. I bring this experience to my filming of stand-up, making sure we do your show justice.

“Dave's eye for comedy sets him apart from the rest. His knowledge and understanding of the art of comedy makes my life so much easier.” - Bernard Casey

  • It really matters to me that that laughs a comedian gets are recorded correctly and are reflected properly in the special.

  • While I’m currently a solo operation, I have a network of skilled freelance camera operators that I trust and work with on a regular basis. This is organised by me and the price of hiring team members is covered within the overall price.

  • Please contact me directly about pricing. Let’s work together on making sure I can provide the exact level of production you want.

Chris Kent: ‘Offline’ Live at the Marquee

I was lucky enough to follow Chris work on this show from its very early stages during a documentary we are making together. To see and film the show in its matured form live at the Marquee was incredible.

Deirdre O’Kane: ‘O’Kaning It’ - Olympia Theatre

We filmed this special in December 2024 in the gorgeous Olympia Theatre. It was in the middle of a storm but Deirdre still pulled in a full house! With a mix of wide and close shots we filmed the show on five cameras.
